Do you ever do things and then wonder if it was a good idea? I was working on a quilt with these beautiful appliqued sunflowers. The statement was made when I was picking it up that "it didn't need anything fancy." Well, I'm not sure I'm the best quilter for leaving out fancy, but I did my best.
I looked up pictures of sunflowers and decided a little detail was in order. I used a drab gold for some lines on the petals.
Then I thought maybe a little more detail. So, I got out a brighter thread with some variegation. I added a little more stitching in close to the centers of the flowers.
Now, I wasn't ripping anything out, mind you. I'm just not sure it made a significant difference. Maybe, it needed more? More and brighter? Hmm.
Oh well, it's done and delivered, and done is good.
it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt. It must have been so difficult for you to decide how to quilt it though.
