Bad Dog Wants to Read

Several months ago I purchased the basic Kindle. I really enjoy reading ebooks. We just don't have the room here for bookshelves, and I'm always tardy in returning books to the library. The ebook reader is perfect for me.

Last week, I was on the couch reading while Motorcycle Dude was at an evening meeting. He came home we talked for a bit, and then went to bed.

The rumble of the trash truck woke me bright and early the next morning. It's my alarm clock on Wednesdays. I stumbled out of bed and fixed my morning cup of coffee. While sipping my morning elixir I wanted to finish the chapter from the night before. Only problem was the Kindle was no where to be found. Not between the couch cushions. Not under the couch. Not in my yarn basket. Not anywhere to be found. I searched for two days.

Finally I chalked it up to a senior moment and decided that I must have thrown it out with the newspapers. I've never done anything like that before, but I couldn't find it so I must have tossed it, right?

I broke down and ordered another Kindle. It arrived while I was at a quilt guild workshop with Bonnie Hunter. Sweet Motorcycle Dude was fixing barbeque chicken last night since I'd been stitching my fingers to the bone all day. I must say it really was wonderful for him to fix barbeque anything, since the temps were around freezing last night.

He was out tending the chicken and decided to walk around the yard to see what the dogs had been up to. Lo and behold he found my old Kindle! It was covered in ice, pine needles, and dirt. Hurray! It wasn't a senior moment. It was Bad Dog!

We thawed it out, and wonder of wonders, it started! It has some scratches on the right side of the case and screen, but nothing too bad.

I think Bad Dog wanted to learn to read, so she borrowed it. However, when she had trouble getting the Kindle to start, she gave up. Like many children (she is only 3) she doesn't always return things to where she got them, and she gets distracted easily.

When the javelinas went by the back fence she forgot all about learning to read, and left the Kindle out behind the workshop.

I've gifted the extra Kindle to Motorcycle Dude. I've also learned to never underestimate my Bad Dog.

Smile

Somethings just make me smile. I came in from outside and saw this...

Flowers on the table, the afternoon sun streaming in the window, and my Valentine quilt hanging. Nothing fancy, but it made me smile.
